I kada bi sve na ovoj planeti izgorjelo, ostala bi voda – i u njoj iskra novog života. [1]
Čovjek je nekad živio u neposrednom kontaktu s prirodom, cijenio je i uvažavao te intenzivno promatrao. Sav se njegov život odvijao u okviru četiriju elemenata, a to su : ZEMLJA, VATRA, VODA, ZRAK. U evolutivnoj spirali čovjek je spoznao da postoji mnogo više elemenata, dokučio neslućene znanstvene spoznaje, otišao na Mjesec i štošta još drugoga, i u tom svom hodu kroz povijest zaboravio, zanemario TREĆI ELEMENT – VODU kao osnovnu supstancu svojega života.
Svjetski mediji dnevno prenose vijesti ili o nestašici čiste vode, ili o nekim novim eko incidentima ili pak o kataklizmama koje voda uzrokuje.
To je jedan od povoda da se upustimo u “inventuru” vode i svega što je uz nju vezano.
Temeljni cilj projekta je pokrenuti ljude da u svojoj neposrednoj sredini otkrivaju prirodna bogatstva i ljepote vezane za vodu, a isto tako da detektiraju specifične ekološke situacije koje ugrožavaju naš TREĆI ELEMENT ili pak da daju neko drugo, osobno viđenje ove teme kroz medij fotografije.

Man used to live in close contact with nature, appreciated it, cherished it and intensely observed it. His whole life used to run in between four elements which are: EARTH, FIRE, WATER, AIR. During the evolution a man figured there were many more elements, perceived unsurmised scientific ideas, went to the Moon and did many other things, and in his being through history he ignored THE THIRD ELEMENT – WATER as an elementary substance of his life. World media are daily informing us of either lack of clean water or some new ecological incidents or even cataclysms caused by water.
This is one of the reasons for “inventory-making“ of water and everything connected to it.
The main goal of this project is to encourage people to discover natural resources and attractions in their immediate surroundings related to water and also to detect specific eco situations which endanger our THIRD ELEMENT – WATER or maybe give another, maybe their own, view on the subject through photographs.

OPĆA PRAVILA:
Organizator natječaja je Fotoklub Rijeka.
Natječaj TREĆI ELEMENT održava se jednom godišnje.
Sudionik natječaja prijavljuje isključivo svoje fotografije i preuzima odgovornost za autentičnost i sadržaj prijavljenih fotografija.
Fotografije trebaju biti iz posljednje dvije godine i koje nisu izlagane u Rijeci
Obrada fotografije u programima za uređivanje fotografije dopuštena je do mjere koja ne narušava i ne mijenja osnovni smisao snimljenog sadržaja.
Autorsko pravo: autor daje suglasnost organizatoru natječaja da bez naknade može objavljivati prijavljene fotografije uz jasan potpis autora, a u svrhu promocije izložbe.
Autor treba navesti mjesto i godinu nastanka fotografije. Navođenjem mjesta i godine snimanja, dajemo ozbiljnost i dostojanstvo našoj struci u proučavanju fotografskog stvaralaštva, a i svim drugim stručnjacima u proučavanju teme ovog natječaja.
Organizator će koristiti odabrane fotografije s izložbe za poticanje i unapređivanje fotografskog stvaralaštva.
Neke od izabranih fotografija bit će tiskane na promotivnom materijalu izložbe, npr. na pozivnici za otvorenje izložbe i pratećih manifestacija, na plakatu ili na informaciji za novinare. Svi spomenuti oblici objava su nekomercijalne vrijednosti i jedina im je svrha promocija izložbe i autora. Svaki autor čije fotografije budu korištene ili reproducirane u katalogu ili nekoj drugoj publikaciji, bit će obaviješteni dobit će primjerke tih publikacija u elektronskom obliku na adresu koja je navedena u prijavnici. Moralna autorska prava, u smislu ispravnog potpisivanja autora na tiskanim djelima, bit će u potpunosti poštovana.
Izabrane i nagrađene fotografije bit će reproducirane u katalogu, bez plaćanja naknade autorima.

General rules:
Fotoklub Rijeka is the organiser of the contest.
THE THIRD ELEMENT contest is held once a year.
The participant can enter a contest with his photographs only, and claims responsibility for the authenticity and the content of the entry.
Photos must be from the last two years and have not been exhibited in Rijeka.
Photo processing in photo-editing programs is allowed to the point where it doesn’t impair or change or the sole meaning of the subject.
Copyright: by signing the entry form author gives consent to the co-organizers of the contest allowing them to publish entrieswithout additional compensation along with a clear author`s signature for the purpose of promoting the contest.
Author needs to state the place and the year of taking the photograph. In that way we add to seriousness and dignity of our profession in studying photographic creations as well as to all other experts who are studying the subject of the contest.
Organizer is going to use selected photographs from the exhibition to encourage and promote photography.
Some of the selected photographs will be issued on the exhibition’s promotional material, for example on the invitation for the exhibition and corresponding events or in the information for the press. All the mentioned forms of publishing are non-commercial and their sole purpose is to promote the exhibition and the author. Every author, whose photographs will be used or reproduced in a catalogue or any other publication, will receive a copy of the publication send on the address stated on the entry form. Moral copyrights in the matter of correct author`s signature on the published works will be fully protected.
Selected and prize-winning photographs will be issued in the catalogue, without compensation to the authors.

Broj fotografija i način prijave:
Autor na natječaj se može prijaviti do šest /6/ fotografija. Kolekcije se ne primaju.
Dopušteni nastavci datoteka: jpg, jpeg.
Veličina datoteke: duža strana 45cm i rezolucije 300 dpi.
Tehnika:
Nema ograničenja; fotografije mogu biti crno-bijele /CB/, monokromatske /M/ ili u boji /B/.
Kotizacija:
Za sudjelovanje na ovom natječaju plaća se kotizacija u iznosu 10 eura

Komunikacija:
Sudionici izložbe, a državljani su Republike Hrvatske, dokumentaciju ispunjavaju i šalju na hrvatskom jeziku. Sudionici iz Bosne i Hercegovine, Srbije i Crne Gore dokumentaciju šalju na svom domicilnom jeziku. Za sve ostale sudionike jezik komunikacije je engleski.

Kalendar izložbe:
Zadnji dan prijave je subota, 30. 4. 2026. godine.
Objava rezultata: Organizator će poslati obavijest svim sudionicima natječaja čiji su radovi prihvaćeni i koje fotografije će biti izložene.
Izložba će biti postavljena u Galeriji Principij od 27. svibnja do 6. lipnja 2026.

Communication:
The participants who are citizens of the Republic of Croatia should submit their documents in Croatian. Participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro should send their documents in their mother tongue. For all other participants the language of communication is English.

Exhibition calendar:
The application deadline is: April 30, 2026
Announcement of results: The organizer will send a notification to all participants of the contest whose works have been accepted and which photos will be exhibited.
The exhibition will be on display at the Principij Gallery from May 27 to June 6, 2026
